Field Representative - Office Of the First Congressional District, OR – Feb. 2011-Present

  • Researched specific public policy issues to brief and advise the congressman: natural disasters, environment, energy, maritime, coast guard, dikes and levees.
  • Represented the congressman in meetings with constituents, agencies, local officials, businesses and other stakeholders.
  • Drafted letters, talking points, speeches, and constituent correspondence on behalf of the congressman.
  • Served as liaison between constituents and federal agencies.
  • Managed cases for constituents with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Internal Revenue Service and the Veterans Administration.
  • Advanced community outreach strategy to incorporate local priorities into federal agenda.
  • Developed and coordinated meetings and special events in Columbia and Clatsop County.

Regional Field Director, Wu for Congress – Washington County, OR – July 2010-Nov 2010

  • Collaborated on the development of a field strategy and scripts for a campaign that won by a 12% margin.
  • Recruited for more than 350 volunteer shifts that made over 60,000 voter contacts in the month of October.
  • Worked with a team of field personnel that repeatedly exceeded goals by 50-200%
  • Coordinated with affiliate groups: unions, county parties and other campaigns.
  • Planned and staffed the congressman’s public appearances in Washington County.
  • Developed new media outreach capacity.

Campaign Manager, John Hutzler for Washington County Auditor – Beaverton, OR – Nov. 2009-May 2010

  • Collaborated on both messaging & field strategy for a campaign that won 56% of the vote.
  • The only Democratically endorsed campaign to win definitively in the May non-partisan election at the county level.
  • Secured endorsements from 2 national office holders, 3 organizations and dozens of state and local office holders that had not endorsed for this office before.
  • Recruited 60 volunteers for house parties, letters to the editor, phone banking & canvassing.
  • Created the strategy and content for the website, online ads, Facebook & Twitter updates.
  • Analyzed voter information using the VoteBuilder database & county elections data.
  • Placed eight letters to the editor & sourced two articles that supported our campaign message goals.

Field Organizer, Tax Fairness Oregon – Portland, OR – Dec. 2009-Jan. 2010

  • Facilitated seven letters to the editor & an Op/Ed in Central & Southern Oregon papers.
  • Created strategy for regional campaigns & outreach regarding ballot measures 66 & 67.
  • Coordinated two earned media actions that received television, newspaper & radio coverage.
  • Recruited 70 volunteers & activists in Central & Southern Oregon for earned media events.
  • Grew the organization’s database by 1000 members.
  • Concurrent fundraising efforts referencing this work and related blog posts helped raise $10,000.
